Summary
Funding creation directly and collectively moves decision-making power, as in the case of David Revoy’s Pepper & Carrot community, which participates in the creative process.
David Revoy
David is an illustrator and comic book artist. He created artworks for comics, books, posters, board-games, video-games and movies.
Since 2009, he’s working only with Free/Libre and Open-Source Software on a Gnu/Linux system. He played a major role in the development of Krita, a digital painting software.
He was artistic director of the Blender Foundation’s films Sintel and Spring.
In 2014, he published the open-source webcomic Pepper&Carrot, which tells the story of the young witch Pepper and her cat Carrot in the magical world of Hereva. The webcomic is collectively funded by hundreds of patrons.
David also creates illustrations for Framasoft campaigns, including the latest: Framasoft turns 20.
He likes to share his knowledge with others, so he has published numerous tutorials and gives courses in digital drawing and painting.
